DESCRIPTION: GALAXIAE is an abstract, FREE, real-time single- and multiplayer (2-10 players), retro-style strategy game. Based upon SV4 as game engine you can play with your friend on another continent with hundreds of units in a battle on a star sector or even galaxy map with 25, 50, 75, 100 or even 500 star systems. You can fill additional positions for players with AI/computer brain players, so after building an alliance in the game you can also play some how cooperative.
A WARNING FOR NOOBS AND HIRNLOSE BALLERFREAKS: If you think that this is just a simple space exploration game like those other 1000 space games that you have already seen in a better graphics design: YOU ARE WRONG, AND YOU WON'T HAVE A CHANCE IN A MATCH. This is some kind of eSPORT. If you play this game with a skilled veteran you need extremly high skills in using mouse and keyboard, strategic and tactic skills you organize attack and defense vectors, grouping units to formations, commanding hundreds of units, and matches are relatively short: Most games with 25 to 50 stars have a winner after 10 to 30 minutes.

We created a single ZIP file with the latest GALAXIAE 8C executable plus the single- and multiplayer scenarios files plus a number of savegame files of single player games that you can use as a demo. Especially these savegame files are quite valuable for new players because there you can see what kind of units we have built and how the game really looks like in larger star- and galaxy maps like the scenario Gamma 2.6 and Gamma 2.9. Scenario Gamma 2.9, 2011/04/03. This is an example how the game in gamma 2.9 can start. At first player RED builds some small E3W2 warships to flood and capture the nearby starsystems. In the next step he built some E7C3 freighter units to transport resources from those starsystems to the capital, where later the first startillery unit is built. To speed up and raise the production atleast 1 techship is built atfirst, later some additonal techunits. While player RED expands to the next zones of starsystems he built up defending startillery units. Advice: Watch this video on youtube, change quality from 360p to 1080p HD, and then switch to full screen. This requires a good DSL connection, however then you see the real screen of the game.
Galaxiae Gamma 2.9 / Moving Fleets in Galaxiae Scenario
Example for a typical escalation if atleast one player builds techships: They raise the production after a while 2x, 3x or even 5x. So finally even large scale games will end finally in most cases with a winner.

Video: Gameplay in Scenario GAMMA 2.9 for GALAXIAE. This video might be an example for beginners to see that it is possible to create fleets with the commands escort (E) and (D), and then move this fleet deep into hostile star sectors or even other quadrants of the galaxy. In this case we build a SPYSHIP as center unit, ordered 8 STARTILLERY units as escort plus a defense of >10 warships. Strong startillery units destroy incomming drones and warships, however you have to destroy incoming hostile EMINES yourself before they reach your fleet.
+++ NEW MULTIPLAYER ONLY SCENARIO "GALAXIAE GAMMA" VERSION 2.6 RELEASED +++ 2011/02/05 +++
Some players from 2001 to 2004 may remember this scenario type (1.0). We re-designed and programmed this scenario type (version 1 ca. 2001) as version 2.0 in January 2011 from scratch, however we optimized the algorithm to enable also games with more than 1,000 star systems. We have tested the game with 2, 4 and 8 players. Brains/AI need about 2,500 to 4,000 impulses (40 to 66 minutes) to win a match. To win your opponent has to surrender or you have to conquer all hostile capitals. The next version will have an additional victory condition: You can win the game by collecting a specific number of resources. An additional galaxy map EPSILON (3 times larger) is tested at the moment if it fulfills our requirements for a team-competition (3 vs. 3 players).
This short video shows how the multiplayer scenario maps look like if you start them with the client on the server: Version 2.6 of this scenario renders galaxy with 2 arms. Each player starts with 1 capital star in one of 4 quadrants. We suggest that you play this scenario with 2, 4 or 8 players. Fill the missing player slots with a simple brain/AI.
To play this scenario download the scenario stub in our MAPPAE GALAXIAE section. This is a stub only, you cannot play it in single player offline, only online in multiplayer. Save the file in the directory of your galaxiae_??.exe file and choose it if you are on the server as scenario file. It shows NO (!) preview when you load it. The scenario is generated dynamically on the server if the game starts, so it is a suprise for all players.
